Our Commitment towards a Sustainable Life
Corporate Social Responsibility
Galaxy started its social interventions in FY 2010-11, much before CSR became mandatory, post the New Companies Act 2013. Most of the beneficiaries comprise the under-privileged and weaker sections of society. Galaxy strongly believes that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is connected with the principles of sustainability and recognises that its business activities have wide impact on the society in which it operates. Understanding the impacts of our interventions on Society, we embarked on our journey of social responsibility.
During the year 2017-18, we undertook the following key CSR initiatives:
Samajeek Uthaan: Adopted a tribal village Navlyacha Pada, Mokhada, District Palghar, Maharashtra with a view to transform it into an “Ideal Village”
Stree Unnati: To empower young women staying in slum area by providing them skill-based trainings like beautician and para-nursing courses
Vatavaran Suraksha: Planted more than 34,000 trees during the year
Aarogya Vardheeni: Construction of toilets in Schools, Community Centres, Hostels, etc. support for Mobile Eye Clinic, ICU equipment in a Cancer Hospital, Mobilised 460 units in 7 blood donation drive; an Eye camp in Talodara Village, Jhagadia covering 750 villagers

About 60% of our initiatives are undertaken in and around the locations where Galaxy has its operations and presence
We encourage our employees to take part in CSR initiatives. We believe in doing work at the ground level in-house, hence 60% of our initiatives are rolled out at our site locations through direct intervention by our Steering Council members who closely monitor various on-going and past initiatives. We engage with NGOs, wherever required.
Board CSR Committee has been established in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations. The Committee has identified the thrust areas namely: Gyan Sanjeevani, Arogya Vardheeni, Samajeek Utthaan, Vatavaran Suraksha, Stree Unnati & Aapda Rahat around which Galaxy initiates its CSR projects & programmes and allocate resources on a sustained basis to ensure uniform focus and concerted implementation efforts. Our employees constitute an integral part of all CSR activities both as CSR Steering Council members and volunteers. Employees participate with great zeal and enthusiasm.
